Christina Downs
With over 15 years of writing and editing experience, Christina Downs currently does freelance writing, copy editing, proofreading, and tutoring. Primary clients include a civil/environmental engineering firm and an e-learning research company. Christina's background includes over 10 years of technical writing experience with an emphasis on software documentation. She has written articles for Blue Pencil, the newsletter for the Pittsburgh chapter of the Society for Technical Communication (STC), and spent over a year as managing editor of that publication. She has also written papers for and presented at STC conferences.
Chris has an M.A. in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University, a B.A. in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and she is considering returning to school for a psychology and/or theology degree.
Chris is publisher/owner of Cross Your Heart Publications, a Christian publishing company whose mission is to help others cross their lives with God's plan. She authors the monthly Balancing Tips e-newsletter and is also the author of the following books and ebooks:
- Simply Balanced: Bible "Contradictions" Teach Balanced Living
- Dress for De-Stress: How Wearing the Full Armor of God Helps Deflect Worry and Distress (ebook)
- Just Being With God (ebook/photos/poems)
Chris loves words -- how they can be used to speak to people, evoking emotions and sharing knowledge and experiences. She enjoys simplifying text, making it clearer and more concise by copy editing for grammar, consistency, and style.
Chris likes to spend time walking in nature, reading, and hanging out with her husband and two beautiful children. Other interests include karate (Tang Soo Do) and learning about mind/body/spiritual fitness and awareness.
